It’s been well over 100 years since a guitar player wanting a banjo sound installed a 6-string guitar neck on a banjo body. The results are somewhat of a mixed bag, as the guitar-banjo simply does not allow the player to duplicate what one can do on either the traditional 4 or 5-string banjo. On the other hand, it does allow the guitar player to easily capture some of the banjo’s characteristic tones and has been successfully used as a positive addition to various musical styles such as Dixieland, Blues, Ragtime, Irish and more. The OME Guitar Banjo has, a 25.5” guitar scale, 1.75” nut width, and a radiused fingerboard. We make this instrument only in a 12” body which is needed to give the bass response needed for the heavier 5th and 6th strings. The OME guitar banjo is available in either open-back or resonator styles and in Vintage and Professional Series.
