Pegheads & Inlays
OME offers eight peghead shapes: Victorian, Double Cut, Artist, Rectangular, Slotted, DECO, Scroll and Guitar. Every peghead has a 3/32” ebony or rosewood overlay for additional strength and beauty. Custom and Artist Series instruments have the peghead bound with ivoroid and backstraps are available on Artist Series models. All other banjos have unbound pegheads. OME also offers numerous original MOP and abalone inlay patterns, which have evolved over many years, and are unique to the various models we offer.

Most OME Open-back banjos now have a fingerboard S-scoop to facilitate frailing and clawhammer playing styles. This allows the player to “stroke” or “frail” the banjo further up the neck thus obtaining a mellower, old-time banjo sound. Models with 22 frets are still available and often preferred on 11” models with brighter tone rings such as the Vintage, Silverspun, and Megatone.
